Man jailed for battery on LEO

A Chipley man is behind bars for battery on a law enforcement officer.

Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived at Blue Lake after a call reporting a suspicious person was received. Upon arrival a deputy encountered a male who was acting consistently with someone who is under the influence of narcotics, according to reports. As the deputy was questioning the man, his responses led the deputy to determine the man needed to be detained for medical intervention. When the deputy attempted to place restraints on the man, he allegedly became violent and began to aggressively attack the deputy by grabbing him by the throat. The deputy was able to break the man’s hold on his throat and take him to the ground just as other deputies arrived on scene to help subdue the man.

After a medical evaluation and clearance, the male was identified at 32-year-old Michael Anthony Davis, of Chipley, who continued to resist while restrained. After being transported to the Washington County Jail, Davis continued to fight until he was placed in a holding cell.

Davis is charged with battery on a LEO and resisting arrest with violence.
