CHIPLEY – Local BBQ teams will converge at Hard Labor Creek Plantation this Saturday, May 1, for a chance to compete for prizes and bragging rights as the champion of the Washington County Chamber of Commerce’s amateur barbecue cook-off, BBQ in the Pines.
The event kicks off at 10 a.m. and will last until 6p.m. Guests are encouraged to bring a chair and stay for food and a variety of entertainment, including a single action shooting demonstration by the Panhandle Cattle Co., and performances by local bluegrass artist Rick Kent and Limited Edition.
Local country artist Luke Langford will take the stage at 4 p.m., and BBQ team judging will begin at 5 p.m.
There will also be an assortment of children’s activities, vendors, and exhibits.
Admission is $5 per car at the gate and $10 per cooler (no glass; guests must be 21 to consume alcohol).
Hard Labor Creek Plantation is located 7 miles south of Chipley at 1963 Hard Labor Road.
