Notice of Public Comments and Intent to Apply for CDBG-DR Grant Funds Rebuild Florida Hazard Mitigation Grant Match Program
The City of Apalachicola, Florida anticipates applying for Rebuild Florida Hazard Mitigation Grant Match Program Funding in the amount of $583,250.00 provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) allocation for Hurricane Michael to reimburse the non-federal portion of an awarded and eligible Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) grant.Funding will be administered by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO).
This public notice is to solicit citizen comments on the proposed project. The public comment period begins August 11, 2021 and ends on August 25, 2021.
The City of Apalachicola has selected the project that best meets the requirements of both the HMGP and the CDBG-DR Hazard Mitigation Grant Match Program.

In total, DEO has allocated $109 million dollars in CDBG-DR funds to the HMGP Match Program.

A public hearing to provide specific details regarding the proposed projects shall be held at the City of Apalachicola Community Center, 1 Bay Avenue, Apalachicola, Florida 32320 on August 25, 2021, at 1:30 p.m. local time. The public hearing is being conducted in a handicapped accessible location. Pursuant to the provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act, any person requiring a special accommodation at this meeting because of a disability or physical impairment should contact the City Clerk, at 192 Coach Wagoner Blvd., Apalachicola, FL 32320; or by phone at (850) 653-9319 at least five calendar days prior to the meeting.
The City of Apalachicola does not expect that anyone will be permanently displaced as a result of CDBG-DR funded activities.
