A physical disturbance earlier this afternoon lands one in jail on several felony charges.
Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residence off Northshore Dr. in reference to a physical disturbance at approximately 1:33 p.m. this afternoon.
Deputies arrived on scene to find the victim with visible injuries to her face. She stated that the suspect, her son, resides in a camper on the same property.
Deputies make contact with the suspect, William Wentford Ellis, 65, of Chipley, who seemed very agitated.
Ellis did not want to comply with deputies during questioning and retreated into the camper. After being asked to vacate the camper once again, Ellis returns to the door of the camper but quickly retreats back inside.
When Ellis exits the camper for a second time he is in possession of a shotgun, and he pointed the shotgun in the direction of three deputies.
After several commands from deputies, Ellis threw the shotgun to the ground and was apprehended.
Ellis was arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail on charges of battery on a person 65 years of age or older, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer with a firearm (3 counts) and resisting an officer.
