Playhouse tops off inaugural theatre camp with ‘Seussical Jr.’

CHIPLEY – The inaugural theatre summer camp at the Spanish Trail Playhouse culminated Saturday, June 19, with the presentation of “Seussical Jr.” by its young participants.

About 40 Children ages 7-12 attended the week-long camp, where they learned about musical theatre under the direction of Spanish Trail Playhouse President Kevin Russell and Dianna Floyd.

Throughout the week, campers worked toward bringing a fully produced – staged, choreographed, costumed, and scenically designed – musical to realization on the stage. That vision paid off with the campers’ debut as an ensemble on Saturday.

All proceeds from this year’s camp fees and “Seussical Jr.” ticket sales will support both next year’s theatre camp, as well as efforts to replace the playhouse’s 40-year-old seating.

For information on how to donate to the theatre’s seating fund, call the Spanish Trail Playhouse box office at 850-638-9113 between 8 a.m. and noon, Monday through Thursday.
