Two arrested for stolen property

Two men are behind bars after the Washington County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) responded to a hunting lease on May 10 in reference to a report of stolen and damaged property.

When deputies arrived on scene, it was determined that multiple items stolen including ATV’s, UTV’s, tractor parts and implements, toolboxes, and other outdoor equipment.

Investigators began to follow up on leads which led them James Lyman Holley’s residence. According to WCSO, as investigators spoke with Holley he began to be uncooperative as an investigator observed items matching the description of some of the stolen property in the bed of Holley’s truck.

Investigators obtained a search warrant and executed the warrant at Holley’s residence. Multiple items reported stolen from the hunting lease were recovered at the residence.

Additional leads led investigators to the residence of Chip Steven Spence where after speaking with Spence, investigators were able to recover the remaining stolen property.

The property was recovered from a nearby wooded area with assistance from Washington county Public Works. The Washington County Dive Team aided in the recovery of items in a nearby pond.

James Lyman Holley is charged with multiple counts of grand theft.

Chip Steven Spence is charged with dealing in stolen property.
